...Of these LED Lights someone has spent hours doing?

I personally like them, shame they are not commercially available. The front indicators have been done too

I like them for the fact that you dont have to change the bulbs, but i prefere the original lights

I am toying with the idea a long time, but so many other things need to be dobe first. Personnaly I like the look of it.
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

This is a genuine question, I am not trying to be sarcastic - honest!

But, excuse my ignorance, how can you have LED lights with standard gas-filled bulbs?

Surely it is a contradiction??

I cant answer that one! - Except the owner detailed to me that he has made adjustments to the Check Control System (in the boot) and changed/added some relays to the system, including the indicator relays.

He is about to take his lights, including the indicators for testing in the TUV system in Germany - Apparently at great expense - I suggested he find out what interest there is through forums etc and perhaps set up a small business just for these....He is thinking about it.....each complete set only took 2 weeks.

I meant that you dont have to change them as often as bulbs as they do not blow as often.

I should have taken a bit more time over my previous statement.

But saying that, you will somtimes see these new mercs/bmws with a couple that have blow, surley thay are going to be more expensive to replace than a standard bulb?

ahh, Cheers for clearing that up! I was really confused!

With regards to ur second question, I believe someone has already asked that about their own car on here... I think the outcome was to replace the entire board of LED's. I should imagine you would pay more for the LED's with clear glass, than red glass.

Hi @all.

First, a big THANK YOU to Nostrils for posting my idea in this forum an for introducing me here.

The reason for designing this LED lights was the 'new-look' which you find only in new BMW models, like 5.. or 7..

And you really dont have to change bulbs, i hope for lifetime.

It is because the current is reduced extremely, which means long life of the components.

And should it happen one time, its no problem changing one or two LEDs. But after testing them for about 2 months I can give only positive opinion.

The LEDs are ALL with clear glass, because of the output quality of the monochrome light. You need very litte power (10% of the normal power consumption with original bulbs)  for the maximum efficency and it looks better, when the light is OFF.

Of course it is expensive, but MUCH better than red or yellow coloured LEDs. By the way, the white-light LEDs are the most expensive. Too expensive to talk about. But when you see this lights go on, you will forget all the money you've spent for it.
