Ive just had a hartge chip fitted to my 535i sport but guess what,it was already chipped !! Where the chip plugs in to the socket on the ecu board there was another little board with some components on with the chip then plugged in to that. This chip and board was removed to then fit the hartge chip. What i want to know is what is the other little board for and has anyone heard about them before ?

Don't hold me to it but im sure some of the ECU's had this daughter board and some didn't. It may be as you say a non bmw chip but im sure i read somewhere that depending on your ECU # depended on which chip you buy. Mine was just a straight chip swap on my 535i but as yours is a sport it may be the reason why you have the daughter board version. It is probably best someone else with a 535i sport check their ecu and see if its the same type.

The person who fitted the chip removed the 'daughter' board and fitted the new chip straight to the main board. Should the 'daughter' board have been left in there ?
