Seem to be a few companies out there chipping the 330 at the moment.

Does anyone have any experience of general tuning (except S/C and turbo) the 3.0 lump and what sort of results have you gained from what mods?

Also, the throttle response is a little bit slow. Is the standard chip reprogrammable to sort this or is it just a symptom of the engine set up?

Thanks.

The 3.0 litre's extra power over the 2.8 is mainly down to BMW de-restricting the inlet side of the engine (the 2.8 was strangled to meet German insurance & tax regulations.

At 231bhp it's not far short of the US M3's 240bhp.

A modified chip should help throttle reponse as the 'soft' nature is down to emission tuning.

Conventional tuning won't give much more power without compromising drivability. Forced induction is expensive but better & cheaper in the long run - or an M3

Try AMD in Bicester - www.auto-amd.co.uk. They alos chip for some of the dealers and I'm sure they'd tell you which ones so you could book it in via them. That way there would be no argument if the engine developed a problem. Some dealers are very against chipping even though all the manufacturers do it!

I believe Bexley Motor Works are also very good www.bmsport.com and are probably the best to speak to.
