Hi

As you are writing in the East Anglia section I assume you a relatively close to Great Yarmouth.

I have used a Company called Peter Doige (see address below).  I have had 2 installs done by them.  One in my '87 F reg E30 325i Sport and one in my present peugeot 306.  Both jobs were really, really excellent.  I am saving up to have an install done in my E36 M3 convertible maybe for the end of the summer.

I dealt mainly with the son (family business) I think his name is Simon.  He gave really good advice and actually talked me out of spending too much money as he said i wouldn't gain anything!  Doesn't happen very often!

I'm sure if you gave them a call they would be able to give you some very good advice over the phone (i would ask for simon) and i am sure they would be able to give you the speaker sizes.

Let me know how you get on

For door speakers, you'll need a custom build...

The standard fit speakers are 5.25" in the footwell and you can fit 6x9" in the rear with an adaptor (either off-the-shelf from the likes of autoleads or custom made)

I upgraded to JBLs - see http://jwestwood.demon.co.uk/bmwcc/car328i.html for details...

Watch the depth of the 5.25" speakers... the bay in the footwell isn't that deep so some of the higher powered speaker's magnets are to deep to mount in the bay. The JBLs I used meant I had to remove the sound deadening foam - although I must say this didn't appear to have any detrimental effects.

My coupe didn't have any door speakers. 1996 model. Footwell mids (5.25"), door tweeters (left em as standard) and rear shelf 10cm Nokias (replaced with 6x9").
