Nigel,
what's wrong with this plates? Exept that wrong front?
Still better to read than some of the funny italic styles I have seen.
BTW they are approx £20 if you get them made in Germany

-it is also a condition of your insurance that your car be roadworthy i.e. with a current MOT and not obviously having any 'instant fail' items. Numberplates that don't meet UK regulations would fall into that category and could make a loss-adjuster's day.....

cheers

J7 VNK

My advice is DONT use them on the public highway.

Your rear plate MUST be yellow with black letters/numbers, the front ones are white.

The D for Germany ( in English) is a legal mark that must show the country of redgistration of the vehicle.

The only right hand drive cars with German redgistration plates and a GB sticker are british forces serving in Germany, and this arrangement was arrived at after the BFG plates were withdrawn following terrorist activity that lead to a warrant officer being killed in calais, and a Royal Air Force chaps 18 month old child being killed in Germany, (they missed the driver).

I dont care what other forums tell you, you arent just into messing about with redg plates, you are messing with anti terrorist measures, not a good idea at the present time.

Best Wishes

Nigel

I take it you mean an normal english style plate - i.e E323 BMW? and not a german style plate?

You can have anything you want on the plate as long as the letters are spaced correctly - you can even put rude words on them!

You do have a point!  but I think they make the car look good!!!  insurance wise I can't see a problem, but the police may take interest. It's not as if they're making the car any different by having tin plates with D instead of plastic with GB or EU.

I was looking at other boards that came up in google for a search and many people use them without problems, in fact i never found a post where someone got into trouble, one guy was told to change them and that was it.

Oh well, did it now!!

Jonathan

I only have one question...why use them on the public highway? I can understand for show use but on the road would be an insurance nightmare if something unexpected happened.

If your car is LHD then I would think you have a greater chance of no problems but RHD and German plates would trigger a second look.

Cheers

Has anyone bought any German plates for their car and used them??

I've just bought some from www.germanplates.com as they seemed to be the cheapest and they're made and shipped from Germany (although i'm back in Germany next week and now find out they're only €10 each!!)

EUtags.com wanted £35 each, but I paid $49 including postage and packaging, which isn't bad as it only took £24.37 from by paypal account!! now that's a good rate!!

So anyone used them?? I know they're not legal but want to know if anyone's had any bother from the boys in blue. there're loads of foreign cars around where i live so hope the police wont even look twice!!!

Another thing, i'm going to buy the German stadt badge, anyone know where the M5 was built? there's 16 badges on eutags.  is it Bayern?
