First car was old Mini, scrapped after 3 months, then had Hillman imp, Black & gold, had a vulture sticker on front wings ! Also spare engine as they were prone to head failure & could swap engines in @ 15 - 20 Mins. Oh - nearside rear wheel fell off one day !

All this horsing around...makes such a refreshing change to find people with a sense of humour...specially a mod..now that is rare......

On the subject of Imps....

My sister had one once, her hubby (who couldn't drive) decided to be very helpful and fill the car up while she waited inside the car cos it was raining.  Once filled up, he went and paid for the fuel.  Of they went down the road and sister mentioned a very strong smell of petrol.  She duly pulled over, lifted the front and low and behold hubby had forgotten to replace the fuel cap properly and the luggage space was awash with petrol....

Needless to say, her hubby was banned from putting petrol in the car from that day onwards

Overtightening of the massive hub nut usually, 175 lb ft was difficult for people to estimate, so they always gave it an additional clout with a club hammer just to make sure.

Shaft gets necked and lets you down when you least expect it !!

Only ONE girl in the back?

(thoughtful pause)

Then again, it's probably a sight better than a dog in the woods....

I notice Nigel's been very very quiet..... bet he wishes he'd never let on about his woodland activities...

I don't suppose Hampstead Heath comes into that category???

There are whole Websites devoted to that type o' thing... I understand.
