Hi all you guys in the North East.
I am having problems getting my '95 320I MOT'D at home at the moment as the test centres are on strike and have been for a while.
As i'm going over to the mainland for my hols soon (week in NE and week in Peak District) i was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get an MOT done, car is pretty much ready (i think).
How much is the test and do i need to book in advance?

I just use Quickfit. I can't comment on all of them but the one in Redcar is really good. You do need to book in advance. Cost is about £30. I am getting my car MOT'd there tomorrow.

Redcar is about 8 miles from Middlesbrough. Probably about 50 miles from Newcastle.
Anyone know of anywhere closer to where Phil is staying?
I know this forum is a bit quiet but I would have thought there would have been a couple more responses

You could try the AA garage in Halfords, Silverlink, Wallsend - between North Shields & Newcastle. There's another tyre & exhaust place just round the corner too.
Any number of places around here - just look in Yellow Pages.

Thanks Andy, i'm going over next Saturday so i'll have a scout around on the Monday.
What's the procedure for a retest over there, at home they charge about £20 and you're lucky to get a date within 5/6 weeks and that's when they're not on strike.

Got my MOT done in a little garage in Amble, £30 and she sailed through, happy days.
