How fast would they go without the limiter?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the 3.0 didn't have the limiter (or it was different from the evo) and could go to 164mph also (again correct me) aren't the 0-60 times the same between the two?
Perhaps it's wishful thinking

IIRC M3 GT didn't have the limiter. 3.0 did.

Got my numbers from http://www.dervman.com/datasheet.htm

I went out in my '94 M3 (coupé) last week with an AP22 accelerometer and recorded a best 0-60 time of 5.68 seconds.  The handbook says 6.0, and IIRC AutoCar tested it at about 5.4 when the car first came out.  I was happy with my testing   :-)

The handbook also says that mine is limited to 155mph.

Steve.

An E36 3.2l has without limiter has been clocked at 174 Apparently the 3.0l gets to about 167.

Varying reports of Limiters being missing on 3.0l cars.. Seems to depend car to car.. Some owners report being able to exceed 155 (on german autobahn not in UK)
All Evo's have limiters and have to be de-restricted if you want to run faster than 155
