oil light

   hi, ive just purchased an e30 316 1988 model, and the oil pressure light dosnt come on when i switch the ignition on, all the others light up i.e battery etc. could it be the sender unit (not sure where it is on this model) or bulb, or fuse, anybody had the same problem, any help much appreciated.
