Ok well having gotten the bug i have tried to find any and all information i can on hids and angels and found one place that does them both in one package. http://www.xenonvalot.com/xenonsys.html have 3 different offers for the E34. E34 Celis Ring / Angel Eye kit: plus delivery i imagine which puts it on par with quality-bmw on ebay. Now as much as i love to spend money and itching to buy the 3rd one here i don't see the point as i very rarely use my high beams and as such would spend 300 quid nearly on them staying off. The 2nd option however is a very attractive offer considering that you get hella/philips ballasts, D2S bulbs and they are setup for the E34. Andy can i ask what you ended up paying for your hids and angels to gauge it against the above to see whether singles and diy are a better option. Russ |

I paid £138(inc P&P) for the 8000K Hella HID kit, £100 for the angel eye kit and the replacement lenses should be about £100.

Miles can you give me the link to the ended auction so i can see if the seller has any more. I have tried to search on ebay and the only 8k hids are hella ones which are 300 odd euros. Russ |

The HID's have got a bit cheaper over the last few months. Looking back the Bohmen 6K H1 was $460 15 months ago (Yikes) and the Depo kit was £200, plus post and VAT. The Hella Angel eye kits were around £100 and comprise 4 plastic rings with a socket arrangement on the ends. A plastic block then plugs into this which has a fibre optic cable. There are 4 fibre optic plugs for the rings, the other end has a polished face with a metal surround. This was designed to plug into the back of the lamp assy on the BMW headlamps and was then illuminated by a filament bulb (one per side of the car) Obviously you could illuminate these rings either directly at the ends, or remotely using the fibre, using bright white LEDs instead of a bulb. The only big problem with LEDs is that they are dimmer than bulbs, even the brightest, and have a very narrow viewing angle (around 20-30 degrees) You need many of these all together to illuminate the fibre adequately. Blue ones tend to be brighter, but would be illegal in UK. Cheers. Andy West Midlands |

Flash you are probably better off waiting until Miles has received his kit and can confirm to us that all is present and correct before sending more people off to make the same mistake if its the wrong kit or doesn't fit. I am not trying to use Miles as a guinea pig or anything but the best way for everyone to be happy is to hang 5 and see if the things others are buying are the right items. Like with the Angel eyes we know whats needed in purchasing and fitting them and that for the best results they need a little work (thanks to Andy for this). Russ |

I don't mind being a guinea pig The Angel Eye kit arrived this morning, hopefully it will be easy to fit as the rings are flexible.

I received the Angel eye kit this morning and couldn't resist installing one of the Rings in the new Headlamp inserts.

I made a big mistake already, it turns out the auction on ebay.de was for Two HID Bulbs and the connecting cables but no Ballast/Ignitors Its an extra £100 for those.

Just to put your minds at rest over things blue. The regulations state that only an emergency vehicle can have a blue light to the rear. Only an emergency vehicle can have a FLASHING blue light to the front. So static blue at the front is ok, which is how all the max power cretins get away with all those washer jets etc. |

Thanks for that info Nigel. I did hear of a fellow who's car failed it's MOT because of blue halo lighting, so maybe the MOT station was wrong. Cheers Andy West Midlands Edited by Badger 540 |

Miles, I presume you were able to feed the ring through the back of the reflector aperture to get it to the periphery of the lamp insert. I don't think this would be possible with the genuine Hella rings which are much stiffer plastic. (Wouldn't want to break on of those !!) Cheers. Andy West Midlands |

Yes i was able to feed them through the centre opening in the reflector as they are very flexible, i then fed the power cable out through the side light holder. Looking at the photos again they do seem quite blue but if you look at them in person they are white...Very strange.
As far as i know the only way to fit the rigid angel eyes is to remove the glass lens from the front of the unit by heating up the adhesive ? Miles Edited by e34m5 |

I replaced the lenses on my car at the beginning of the year and had to use a heat gun on the lense to melt the glue/adhesive and then glue (glue gun) the new ones on. however stone chips on 2 of my lights already are making me lean towards replacing the whole light unit for the angels. Russ |

Why did you have to unglue the lenses ? When you buy the replacement "insert" (£23ish) from GSF or Eurocarparts you can just unscrew the old unit and put the new one in ? Or can you just buy the glass lens on its own ?

I bought the glass lense from a place in the states (ebay is your friend) i saw no point replacing more than what was chipped :) they do them for the fogs as well which i didn't need but at least its good to know they are available. Russ |
