Some months ago I went over a small hill (otherwise optimistically known as a speed bump) in my local shopping estate. The car 'grounded' even though I was doing no more than 5mph! It is a standard 325ci and had just one passenger at the time - even though my wife is a big lass!
Now I have a problem with what I assume to be the exhuast - in that it makes a rattly or 'zinging' type noise - especially when cold. I had it up on ramps and checked underneath but the noise only seems to occur when the car is in gear (which is a bit hard to simulate when on ramps!) Does anyone have any ideas why this may be the case? I thought that it would either be the heatshield or a loose eaxhust bracket or one of the baffles inside the front or back box had broken (or god help me - the cat) - but why is it more prominent when the car is in gear? Is it something to do with the clutch or box???
As I say - when the exhust warms up it seems to go away but sounds horrible when cold!!!
All ideas would be welcome
