You are right, they do have a slight blue tint but its really not noticeable when you are driving. I have just ordered a set of 6000K bulbs aswell so that i can compare the colour/light output. I have been reading some of the posts on one of the HID conversion forums and it seems that around 4000K gives the best light output ?

Well done Miles, they look excellent !! The 8k kelvin lamps will look slightly blue. I think 6k is around the neutral white point, while anything above that tends toward the blue end of the spectrum The ricers with the 12k lights are just being daft, as the percieved illumination intensity actually starts to go down as the colour temperature increases. So if you want lamps that actually help you see where you're going, it's best to be sensible (and save some money in the process, the blue and violet bulbs are more expensive) We'll have to compare notes at Gaydon Miles. Along similar lines, there's a DIY Xenon conversion project described HERE, albeit without the "angel eyes" effect....

Its strange they do look blue in the pictures, they are actually white with a very slight tint of blue, they match the HID's really well actually

Wow, very bright. The colour temperature difference is really noticable between the HID and the halogen, just the way it should be, a pure white light. Are the angel eyes really that blue or is it the camera's interpretation of the colour? Paul |

Yes i have just finished installing the 4 new Hella headlight inserts the EL angel eyes and a Hella/Philips 8000K HID (Xenon) Kit. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them so that you can see what they look like, the HID kit is impressive

Miles, are you installing your angel eye kits then? If so, please could you put some pictures up afterwards so we can compare them to the ones Badger 540 has. Would I be right in saying you're using standard Hella lenses in yours, as opposed to the totally clear ones? Paul |

Thanks, yes that's what I meant, I was hoping someone would say that as it looks like the adjusters would disintegrate if i tried to remove them completely.

are you talking about the little black clips on the end of the adjusting screw? [like on the E30] If so then just pull the headlamp out - the black clips can be replaced. |

I have had enough of arguing about the performance difference between a standard 525 and sport 525 for today (even though the sport is quicker) So here is a more sensible question :
I have removed both headlight assemblies from my car and was wondering if it is possible to remove the headlights without removing the adjusters ? i.e. can i just break off the original Black mounting clips from the front of the headlight adjusters and remove the lamps or do i need to remove the adjusters from the rear (looks like a twist lock mechanism) Thanks Miles |
