Hi, you can also get them on ebay-this is the Alpine version and comes complete with the converter!

Check out:

£20 cheaper as well!

These guys have what you want I think, for £225, for the MP3 version.  I bought a regular one, and an interface for the BMW head unit, from them for mine a few months ago and it picked it up straight away, nothing else to do, prewired cable connects to interface and another cable connects the interface to the unit.  I made the slight mistake of buying the Sony unit and found that it was slightly smaller than the std unit and so wouln't sit in the bracket in the boot, had to drill a couple of holes to fit it.  Other than that inconvenience, it works fine.  Read somewhere later that Alpine were the OEM and it would probably have fitted better.

SKP, have you considered burning your CD's as audio cd's, i.e. cda files.

I use MusicMatch to burn my mp3's to a CD in 'Audio' mode (as opposed to mp3 or data) and they work in my '97 523i with the standard 6cd autochanger.

I have recently bought a 1997 523i. It has a standard six CD changer I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a compatible CD changer available, which can be used. I’m after a changer that can play MP3 files.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
SKP
