Forum Rules and Guidelines

To keep this forum clean, usable, and helpful to others a set of rules have been put together that we ask all forum members to comply to :

Golden Rules

• Post in the right forum!  You may have your post deleted if you post in the wrong forum!

• Use descriptive Topic Subject.  This will help others find what they want to read. Topics with bad Topic subjects maybe deleted!

• NO Spamming. No commercial posts or flooding the forum with useless content. We have added an Adverts Forum. Post all items For Sale or Wanted in here. (After please reading its charter)

• Research your Post! Make sure you are not double posting, search the forum first most questions have been answered dozens of time before.

• Don't cross post! Its really annoying and will get you banned.

• No trolling.  Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to annoy people.

• Personal Attacks. Criticise ideas, not people. Flaming will not be tolerated. This includes any material which is vulgar, defamatory, inaccurate, harassing, hateful, threatening, invading of others privacy, sexually oriented, or violates any laws.

• No pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit, or objectifying material.  This includes suggestive images, graphics, and comments.

• Copyright Material: We ask all forum users to please remember that Firmware, SatNav Map CD's and DVD's are copyrighted material.
We appreciate that they are easy to backup and copy, and it is equally as easy to give these copies to others to save them having to spend the rather high prices on purchasing a current CD/DVD.
However, you are reminded that this practice is ILLEGAL.
Users who post such information (either directly on the forum or via PM) may be permanently banned from the site without notice. Their IP details may also be given to the appropriate authorities if requested.

• Do not post links to warez, warez sites or sites with pornographic or objectionable content. Only link to sites that are for family viewing only.

• Respect the privacy of others.  Do not post other's phone numbers, addresses, pictures, etc., without their permission.

• Each forum member may have only one account.

• Do not use objectionable language. It is our intention to keep the language levels appropriate for family viewing. Any offensive wording will be edited!

• Do not dig up old threads. If you want to continue an old discussion (older than 1 month), create a new thread and reference the old one in your post.

• Politics and Religion. This is not a political or religious site, this is a BMW Enthusiasts site, please do not post on any issue that can be considered as political or Religious as someone will always be offended.

• Message content. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages. We, the forum owners, administrators and moderators, have nothing to do with it.

• No Cap Locks. Please do not post messages with the subject or post all in capital letters, or your message will be deleted. Words all in capitals are not only annoying but are read 50% slower than normal writing.

Signatures People still use dial-up internet access so please be sympathetic with them.

• Signatures will be no longer than 4 lines
• Signatures may contain 1 or more images placed horizontally up to a max total height 150px, max total width 600px, max total size 25k.
• Signatures may contain a link to your personal site or sites that maybe of use to other members, No Blatant advertising!
• Signatures are expected to follow the same guidelines as posts.
• Remember that animated images tend to be larger than the forum limits permit. To check the size of your file, right click on the image and select properties or ask a forum moderator.
• Moderators can and will alter signatures found in breach of the rules.

Liability

The forum owners, administrators or moderators accepts absolutely no responsibility for the information stated on the pages of the forum. This forum is a method for BMW enthuasiasts to communicate with each other and membership is open to the entire internet audience. The forum owners, administrators or moderators accept absolutely no responsibility for anything that may arise from an event organised via the forum or from a purchase made from another forum member. If you do something as a result of what you read here, you agree that we are in no way liable for anything at all - you are responsible for your own actions.

Maintenance tips offered by forum members, whilst helpful, may not necessarily be a correct solution, so if in doubt then contact your nearest BMW dealer.

If information is deemed to be offensive or misleading please contact the forum administrator and it will be moderated/removed.

We have an anti-spam rule. There is an Adverts Forum so use it if you need to sell. You may post a link to your advert within a local forum but all trading discussions must take place within the Adverts Forum.

We do not collect your email address [or any other details for that matter] for any use other than for verification on the forum (when registering, etc.) and possibly the very, very occasional mailshot. However, please note that as spammers use software which scan websites for email addresses, it is recommended that you do not have your email address shown (this is an option within your profile - see link at top of page). Your email address is still available to forum moderators.Your password is at no stage available to the forum moderators or administrators due to it being encrypted.

If you are found breaking any of the rules you may have your account deleted immediately. There will be no warnings given! Furthermore, your IP Address will be taken each time you post and along with the time of the post we can find out who you are if necessary! If required by Law, the admins and moderators of www.bavarian-board.co.uk will release member information to law enforcement officials to help with the prevention of this crime, and you are reminded that this includes your IP information.

The forum owners, administrators or moderators reserve the right to immediately disable or delete a forum members account without reason.

The forum owners, administrators or moderators reserve the right to immediately block any IP Addresses or IP Address ranges they so choose from gaining access to the site.

These rules are in addition to the registration rules that are accepted whilst registering for the forum. (see Forum Rules and Policies)

The name BMW is owned by BMW AG of Munich, Germany, and by BMW (GB) Ltd in the UK. This site claims no affiliation with any of the above companies.

This site is provided as an expandable library for owners and future owners of BMW cars.
