My extended warranty with Mondial expires on 10 sept.

I enquired about extending it for another year and was told that Mondial do no have an office in dublin anymore and now conduct their business from the UK

Rang their office in the uk and was quoted  wait for it......... a whopping 620 pounds sterling for one years cover

I asked how it could have increased so much since last year(550 euro) and was told it was due to overall price increases...sounds a bit  lame dont u think.BMW Ireland will not cover car even though they advertise on their site the optionof xtending cover till 100,000 miles has been exceeded.I was told this only applies to 2004 cars. My car 99 M5 has 56k fbmwsh with M&G yet wont be covered...what do u think?.........Aidan

Ask Mac what he thinks about Mondial....!

They have run a mile at the first sign of trouble with his Approved Used car.  BMW (or dealer) have been no better in standing over a car bought at a premium price for the "peace of mind" it should have offered.

In his case, the warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on.

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Prev:
e46 328i SE Touring, 330Ci, 318Ci.
e39 523i SE.
e36 325i Coupe *2, 323i SE, 316iSE.
e30 325iSE 2dr, 320i Conv, 320i 2dr, 316i.

Hi Aiden,

Looks like you and me have been left out in the cold. I have a 320i with what appears to be the premature bore wear problem AKA Nikasil. It seems to me that these guys have had notions about pulling out for a long time, going by the attitudes of Service personnel at 2 dealers where I had work carried out on my car. The first time I wanted warranty work carried out, the service Manager said: "Hmmmm....They're not really covering BMWs anymore" I'd like to know as to when exactly they did pull out and were we all left high and dry a long time ago or was it recently. Every time I rang to see if there was progress with the claim, the service receptionist gave me this rigmarole about "We called lots of times but they're very busy" I think they may have been onto the UK offices.

I'd also like to know why anyone in the company didn't feel obliged to let the owners of the cars covered know as to where they stood.

I would not like to be depending upon those gangsters if I was in France and the worst came to the worst. If this is how they conduct business, the Emergency Service must be a complete joke. Apart from a water pump and a crankshaft vent valve, they have been useless. I feel almost betrayed and insulted at the treatment I have recieved from this outfit, and I expected far better from a prestige brand like BMW. I'd say Hyundais get better warranties than this.....

I apologise if it sounds like I'm having a rant, but they're not making my Christmas list this year. And no disrespect to any of you who have Hyundais......

Mac

Unfortunately i dont have a warranty on my M3, but maybe its a good thing after reading your piece Mac. Surely its up BMW to cover this. I cant believe that after paying for a warranty, a company can just up root and leave you high and dry, thats bulls**t. I presume the dealer sets up the warranty on purchase of a new car meaning they are accountable, no!!!!

I've never bought a brand spanking new motor, as you might have guessed.
