Hello, I've just become the very proud owner of a 320i touring(I've lusted after one for about 10 years). I was really after a 2.5 but this was only £500. Could someone tell me what it is? I think it might be a sport. It has the same engine as my old E28 520i but is loads more responsive and much stiffer. It has a front spoiler with fog lamps and brake cooling ducts, side skirts and matt black trim. Also, is there anywhere I can get the little glovebox owners manual from. I'm also missing the rolling load bay covers, any ideas. I live in Bungay, Norfolk/Suffolk border anyone else on hear from that neck of the woods. Thanks alot, Joexxx

You have an E30. There was no sport but the suspension would be stiffer (especially in the rear). It accelerats better because it is lighter than the E28. The front sounds normal enough and the side skirts were possibly added later. Nice looking car by the sound of it .

Cheers. Any ideas why mine has black instead of chrome trim round the windows? I'll put some photos in the "our E30s" section if someone tells me how, after I've washed it that is!

Hi mate, sounds like you got yourself a nice one there, some people had the sport kit fitted as an option from new, does it look like mine?? (Pics in the owners pics section)

The touring never had the chrome around the windows, they were all shodowline, try e-bay for the bits you need, though things can be a little pricey on there from time to time, or try here http://www.e30zone.co.uk and have a look through the forums.

That is such a sweet motor, it looks so mean from the front 3/4s(top picture). Mine has light wash/wipers(for what it's worth!), front leccy windows and mirrors and no sun roof :-( Is it a SE, Lux or some b'stard hybrid?

Right..just took a look now, touring was was only available as lux just before they finished making the touring, a few were registered in 1994, but all the last ones were 4 cylinder cars...

320i touring was never available as a lux or se...but, the headlamp wash wipe was standard fitment on the 6 cylinder models, but a £310 option on the 4 cylinder cars.

Sunroof was an option on all tourings, £571 for manual, or £745 for an electric one. Also foglights were standard fitment on all 6 cylinder tourings, but an £149 option on the 4 cylinder tourings, your car should also have an M-technic steering wheel fited too as they were standard on the 6 cylinder tourings, but again an option on the 4 cylinder cars.

Electric windows are standard fitment on all later E30's along with power steering and electric windows and other bits and pieces.

Only difference between 320i touring and 325i touring with regards to options, is (apart from the obvious extra 500cc) is the 325i had ABS as standard where as it was an £690 option on the 320i.

Hope that clears a few things up for you!

Seeing as everyone is introducing themselves...

Signed up with the Register a few weeks ago.  Bought my 3rd e30 a few months ago as a toy, an immaculate 91 (was UK H reg), fsh, 60k 325i SE auto 2 door in Calypso.  This follows 2 years with a really nice 91 320i convertible auto and a year with an equally nice 91 320i 2 door with factory Mtech body kit () with 14" bottletops () - my first BMW.  They didn't all follow directly one after another.

Shame, but spent 6 months finding the 325i only to have a dozy mare in a people carrier "mod" the rear end for me after 6 weeks.  Its back on the road now after a very good repair by the co. that do all the work for my local main dealer.  Thankfully it hasn't affected how it drives at all.

Love the e30 because of the shape, size and handling - great for narrow roads around where I live.  The 523i is a great car, can't fault its capability, but its a bit sterile because of the ASC, etc. and much harder to have fun in.  The e30 is the antidote!

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Prev:
e46 328i SE Touring, 330Ci, 318Ci.
e39 523i SE.
e36 325i Coupe *2, 323i SE, 316iSE.
e30 325iSE 2dr, 320i Conv, 320i 2dr, 316i.
