Is there any noticable differance in using High Octain Lead Free (98 ron).  As it seems in short supply localy I will have to travel to find some, so I need to know whether its worth it or not.

Any one have any views??

Phil

I notice considerable performance increase when using high octane fuel. Admittedly it is more expensive but the performance difference is worth every single penny. Trying is believing !!!!!

My 328i showed 2-4mpg better mileage on 98 Optimax vs 97 Super.

I use only optimax in my 325 and my wifes old e30 318, the extra power from optimax is evident straight away.

My friend Marty is a tuner at my local rolling road and in his word's "Optimax is the first time somebody has brought out a fuel which does exactly what it says on the tin."

I don't know if anyone saw the feature a while ago in Evo magazine on Optimax. They took a selection of high performance cars. removed the heads and photographed the condition of them. Then they re-assembled them and ran them for I think it was 2000miles then removed the heads again. The optimax had litterally decoked them due to the cleaning agents and the cleaner burn.

Try it it won't hurt just to put a tank in and fuel econemy will be up because of the better quality of the fuel.

I noticed a substantial difference using Optimax in my old E30 M3 (okay, it's not called a Coupe, but it has 2 doors and a boot!).  "Super" Unleded was designed for cars that had been converted from Leded to Unleaded petrol, so it you could run Super intead of leded without altering the timing.  A mate of mine ran Super in his E30 M3, but he only ran 1 out of 4 tanks super, the other being normal unleded.  As, there is supposedly a buildup of muck in the engine.
