I have just ordered some clear indicators and new rear lights with clear indicators from europarts and was wondering how difficult they are to fit?? Any advice would be great.....

Cheers

HI Grahame,

Have bought the same things you have and they are no problem to fit at all. the rears i chose were the non-crystal type and look great, the side repeaters they supplied were BM original equip, and just lever out with a flat screwie.

Here's the bother. the fronts are not quite the right shape and you will think they arn't going to fit, but keep trying they do with a little pressure. if you still have the choice, Get OEM from BM they arn't that much dearer.

What ever you do you will be pleased with the result i was!!!

Let me know how it goes

Thanks for the info Fraser,

I have sent you a PM as I haven't purchased the wheels yet.... I say yet.... I am on the brink of ordering a set of Fox RS3 18x8's with Continental 235/40's on for fitting on Saturday!

Have to say the lights look great! A huge improvement!!!  and a real bargain, I bought them from Europarts online for £203 inc P&P

Cheers

Are you sure that 235 40 18 is the correct tyre size for an E38 as that would be the same as an E34/E39 and I thought the E38 used a larger rolling radius ?

Hi Miles,

Yeh the manufacturer recommends 235 40 18 all round and based on the diameter of the standard kit on the car at the moment (215 65 16 - Pirelli P4000) you need to be careful because of the speedo etc..... I have asked about 255 40 18 for the rear though.

I was very impressed with the price they came out almost £300 cheaper than 3 other suppliers.... and they are fitting them!!

According to my calculations 215 65 16 = overall diameter of 27"....235 40 18 = 24.4" which is 6% smaller.

The ideal 18" tyre size would be 235 50 18 or you could just about get away with 235 45 18. Or if you wanted wider rears you could go with 255 45 18.

Well I had them fitted yesterday (Fox Sport RS3's) and they look the business!! I ended up with Falken 245x45x18 tyres.

The car seems to handle much better than it did on the standard wheels!! Today I am getting the glass tinted by a local company in Newcastle.... should be ready by 4pm!!

Incidentally on another post they discussed the recent changes in the tinting guidlines and the company I am using are following guidance from Northumbria Police so there shouldn't be any problems there.

Cheers
