Please help,

I seem to have read everything on the forums and have spoke to loads of wheel dealers, but still can't find a true answer. I have a E36 325i 4 door 1993. It seems to have 17" x 8.5  approx M3 (5 spoke) wheels and 235 tyres all round. 3 wheels are BMW Motorsport, with one being a Motorsport copy. I plan to leave the 2 originals on the back.

I want to put the correct/ best wheel and tyre on the front, and are also curious what the rears should be in tyre size. I understand the front should be 17" x 7.5, but get different dealers offering either 215 or 225?

I see that some people say the M3 had 225 up front and 245 rear. as seem to have genuine rear wheels should I be looking at 225 up front, and when time to replace the rears get 245's? or stick with 215 up front and 235 at the rear???

Please help and can you recommend where to buy them from?

Many many thanks,

Hunty

From what i understand, with 7.5" on the front they should have 225's and the 8.5" rear should have 245's although i have seen M3's with 235's all round. 328Sport BBS split rims are fitted with 225 on the front and 245 on the rear and theyre the same width as your M3 alloys. The 225's on the front are to stop the tyres rubbing on the inside arch when the steering is on full lock i think.  I dont know if folks put 235's all round because theyre an easier tyre to get hold off??? The tyre profile is also another one, ive seen some with 45 profile on the front and 40 on the back????? anyone any ideas on that??

I have genuine M3 Evo alloys with 235 on the rear and 215's up front - i didn't choose the tyres, they were on the wheels when I got them.

Its a setup choosen to cut down on understeer aparently!!
