Ken

Looking for the bright side in this, but the fact that the sill hasn't been crumpled (and so the floorpan) should mean it is panel work and there shouldn't be any chassis alignment problems after the repair.  Also, the Siena Red should be a good colour to get a match with.  Also, it looks like none of the airbags were deployed.  In the hands of someone skilled, you'd be surprised at how good the resulting repair could be.

Having said that, I know how it changes the way you feel about a car when it has had a prang.

As I said, trying to find the brightside....

Am looking forward to having it back to be honest - was just getting used to it and can't wait to get re-acquainted.

The colour is actually an Individual one - sort of flips between three different colours, so am a slight bit worried that the matching will be difficult enough.

Will require 1 No quarter panel, old one will be cut up on the C pillar or at the roofline, either that or you'll get away with a new sill, Part 5 in the diagram above. What ever they do make sure they mask and spray up to any natural creases in the bodywork to minimise spotting any slight variations in the paint.

you'll need a new door also but a door is a door is a door., nasty damage, but the chassis should be sound enough, get the alignment checked when it's all back together to satisfy yourself, you can do a few quick checks to ensure the chassis wasn't damaged, like measuring wheelbase distances etc. Get your measuring tape and measure from the centre of the propeller in the BM wheel centre on the rear to the one on the front, then compare to the other side to see if it stretched.

Good luck, I know what it's like, bought the t-shirt.

Side airbag didn't deploy - found that a bit odd myself, but the seatbelt stopped me budging at all - hence the very sore shoulder I now have....

Cheers for the pics of the quarter panel - gives me a decent idea of what needs to be done - the quarter panel is dented around the window as well, so I'd imagine they'll replace most of it....

some hopper alright; it took it well.

I hadn't seen your car before - it's a beauty, even in its slapped up state. Love the colour. And all repairable which is the main thing.

Yeah, it's not as bad as i'd expected it to be, and hard to see how it would cost €6k to repair, but parts are expensive for these beasts. It seems that getting colour to match might be your biggest problem alright.

Your biggest problem is getting a good job done on this kind of thing, someone who know's what he's at when he takes a saw, nibbler, or grinder to your car.

Not a thing you should witness BTW

This was all going far too well - my renewal came through from Hibernian - €3300. This is my policy with full NCB - they don't normally insure 328i's unless you have a current policy, which I knew before I bought the car (I was going to change companies) Am now stuck with them until the claim is settled completely!!
