Hit a crater on way to Wexford other day...tyre went from 30-0 in 2 secs and put a nice flat spot in the alloy.  My spare alloy is not much better, so after having to fork out for a new tyre and I'm now running on the best of the two on the back right, I need to get my hands on at least 1, maybe 2 if the price is right.

The alloy is this type:

Size 7.0 x 16"

I checked ebay over the weekend in the UK and some guy had a set of 4 and I think they went for Ł80 plus postage in the end.  I'd rather get the wheel here in Ireland so I can at least see it before handing over the dosh.

Anybody know anybody who may have upgraded from these type of wheel and still has them lying about?

Tom

Came across the following in the online Buy and Sell.  From the description, I'd guess they are style 33 like yours.  If they are decent, I'd split the set and cost with you, my spare is a 15" and sooner or later a pothole will probably get me too.  No association with... etc.

Derg,

I just spoke to the guy and he has 5 of them as per the picture I displayed.  2 of them have "ok" tyres and the other are medium-to-good condition.  All 5 wheels are in pristine condition as told on phone.  He has a good few advertisements on the B&S at moment.

He's in Clonee so it's only a 15min drive from work for me.  I can probably get over there on Thursday.  How are you fixed?  He said he'll only sell them as a set so we might have to do a deal together.  Only thing is I just want 2 at the most.  Not sure if he wants to split the set.

Unless there is another member out there interested in one alloy wheel?

I'll PM you my tel number and you can call me.

joe-318is gave me the name of a guy in Blanch that has wheels also, so might be worth dropping into him also.

Picked up a set of alloys with boots last night in a car park somewhere nowhere.  Guy who sold them to me seems to sell a lot of BM stuff (wheels, spoilers, lights, etc.) didn't ask where he got them but who cares.  Offered me a E39 rear lip spoiler for €100 painted to color of my choice.

I don't want to post up his details as Mr Cowan might try to track him down, but I've stored his number on my phone for future ref, so if anybody is looking for used parts or upgrades, I think this guy could source them easy enough.  PM me for his number or you might find it posted somewhere else in this thread.

dunno...didn't ask. not interested as I think it wouldn't look the part unless you have the lower suspension and all the other M bits.  My 2c.

Give him a call and ask if you like.

I dont know how it works in Ireland, but in the UK, if you hit a pot hole, and damage your car, you can clain a new tyre/alloy from the council, take a photo of the pot hole/alloy/tyre and attach to an angry but civilised letter and you should get some money from them! After all thats what we pay road tax!

Neil, despite the fact that we have to pay far more in road tax we get much less for our money!
Apparently the local authorities are pretty much protected from any claim unless they were notified about the pothole and neglected to fix it. Even then, apparently, a claim will be hard work!

I wish I could...this bang has cost me a new tyre, replacement alloy and the bush in the control arm is booked in next week to get replaced.

That was an expensive pot-hole

http://www.cbg.ie/printtemplates/news.asp?nID=176 tells people to go to the small claims court but http://archives.tcm.ie/kildarenationalist/1999/02/05/story50 17.asp states:-
Under the Civil Liability Act, a local authority cannot be held responsible for injury to the user or damage to property resulting from failure to repair a road.

I wonder could you somehow manage to claim?

I got 80 quid about 6 years ago off South Dublin Co. Council when I put in a claim.  They paid me half of what I was looking for , so its worth a go!

I tried to claim from them for the damage to my steering rack and pump after hitting a pothole in town over the summer. I just heard back from them saying that in the opinion of the loss adjuster the pothole wasn't bad enough to do "that much damage to a quality car like a bmw". Off to the small claims court now!!

There are a few guys fixing alloys around the country now. My wife's Yaris hit a pothole (OK I was driving) near Mondello.

I took it to a guy in county Limerick who fixed it for 40 Euro. You can see the roller marks on the inside of the rim from the machine. Not very noticeable.

Contacted Co. Kildare councillor he said Kildare Co Co will fight every claim made against them.
