Found this 1985 320i (with old irish reg no.) in Kildare last week and bought it there and then. Eventually got the electrics and engine going last night, which certainly put a smile on may face.  Some of the body work and interior are in a poor state, and will need replacing. To solve this I have also done a deal on a 320i donor car (neighbour of this 1st guy) with excellent body panels and interior, he wanted it shifted from his yard.

Both for less than 900 yoyos!

They think I've lost the plot at home - and they could be right!

congrats on the purchases!
Will take a lot of money, energy and dedication to get it right again though!

Good luck Geoff.I wouldn't know where to start on that.I'm sure you've it all worked out in your head though. How long do you estimate it will take to restore?

strangely enough i have found a 1984 Baur 320i that me and my mate are going to do up to its former glory. it needs some bits tho to function as a car tho LOL... i have been told that the interior is the same as the standard e30 2door. is this correct?

if this is then that will be super cooool as the donor car we are thinking of buying will be very useful

Hope to have her at the Autumn Track Day to see how she goes, all dependant on cashflow though.  Donor car has grey carpet / grey/black seats, black door panels etc, so I'm quite temped to do a complete swap - any opinions on this welcome!

I suppose it will keep you going Geoff on these long dark dreary evenings, and alot of satisfaction at the end if it works out. It's probably the only way to really know the ins and outs of a car is to take it apart and put it back together with replacement panels linkages, engine reconditioning etc. Is it generally body work which needs doing and maybe a bit of electrical work, or is it going to be a long hard winter.
