Well, I took my E21 in to the local main stealer with a request for a basic oil/plug change and health check and one specific issue: when the car has warmed up, it stalls when waiting at the lights, etc.

Well, I'm pleased to say that the car now runs much smoother after the oil/plug change, but somewhat less pleased to say that they have not solved my "warm stalling" issue -- does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Ciao,
Spokey

Whats the idle like, obviously when its not stalled, and does it do it all the time?

Idle seems fine, but when the engine gets warm, it seems to drop fairly quickly until the car cuts out. Once the car is warmed up, it seems to do it pretty much all the time.

Hi It's a k-jet problem does your engine stall becasue it is to rich or to lean, check the plugs.

Rich could be a leaky cold start valve or thermo switch stuck open,

Lean could be the aux air vavle not closeing after the engine has warmed up.

You need to go through the K-Jest from hanyes/ bmw manual or Internet bit by bit to isolate it.

The dealer should of been able to find the fault if any of the satff rember what k-jet and can use the manual.

Hi,

Plugs are brand new, fitted today by the main dealer. Allegedly. They also adjusted the CO2, which apparently entails getting the mix right. Allegedly.

I think I'll just take it over to my local specialist and see if they can get the k-jet sorted. Definitely cheaper!

Thanks a lot!

Hi

I forgot to say the is either set to run correctly when warm but one of the thermo control items is effecting it.

Or it is set to start and idle cold, but the cold start system is not working and when the engine heats up the warm up regulator backs off the fuel, leaning out the engine so it stalls at low revs.
