Hi guys hope someone can help me.

I was lucky enough to last week buy a mint 50k mile 1990 G E30 M3 for £6500.00.  as you can imagine I had to shope very hard to find one this nice for this money  The car had heated seta, leather, air con headlamp washers and just about any other extra available at the time.

The same day (20 minutes after picking it up) I was unlucky enough to write the car off.  The problem I now have is that the insurance are trying to get away with paying me £4500.00.

Does anyone know where I can get a valuation on my car to fight my corner? I am going to let the insurance know that there is no way I could replace the car for that and that infact I would have difficulty replacing it with £6500.00 as I had a good deal.

I have allready printed off a few adverts of similar cars to give them an idea of what they cost but could do with an official valuation type thing.

hope you can help.

Thanks in advance

Mike

The only way around it is to pay for an independent valuation and submit it to the insurers.  If they still won't pay up a reasonable amount, then tell them you want to complain and that you want them to provide details as to the Insurance Ombudsman.

What you describe is not unique, but without independent expert backing, your contention that they are offering an unreasonable amount is exactly that, and no more.  But this will take time and you may have to be perisistent.  I don't know whether you can accept the £4,500.00 and continue to pursue them for more or not.  If not, then you may have to negotiate and cut your losses.  Good luck!!!

p.s. Any more legal advice requested from others and I'll start my clock and begin charging...
