Hey all

Just bought my First E34, a 525 TDS SE auto tourer. So far very pleased with it(only had it two days) but it's due a service which may or may not bring good news.

I've seen white lens kits for sale everywhere. Cheapest so far was "theCarpartsman.com" on EBAY. Has anyone bought from here and if so , how was the quality.

Second question. I want to get the autobox on the car serviced as I don't know if it has been done. Reading the forums the car should have a sealed unit as it's an April '95 car.  Anyone know what is done at an auto service other than changing the oil. If thats all then I might tackle it myself.

Cheers

Auto Box services consist of a full fluid change and fluid filter change.  They will also check the tensions of the brake bands which requires the use of a calibrated torque wrench and somebody who knows what they are doing.

I got my 3.0i 24v Vauxhall Senator Auto box serviced by CM Dunlop Automatic Transmissions in Knockentiber which is just behind Crosshouse Hospital near Kilmarnock, seeing as how you are an Ayrshire lad!  I asked him to have a look at my Beamer tranny when it threw all the toys oot of the pram but he couldn't help me at the time because some nice thoughtful person had nicked his diagnostic gear.  I think he said he was going to retire before the end of 2004.  Give him a call on 01563 523086.

If he has retired go to

Mackie Automatic Transmissions Ltd, 95 Causewayside Street, Tollcross, Glasgow, G32 8LT tel 0141 778 4545.

They fixed my BMW autobox and serviced it too.  Service was £68 + fluid I think.

Hope this helps

Andrew

Hey Andrew

Thanks for your advice and the phone numbers. Nice to get a local recommendation. Where do you stay?

Cheers

Graeme

I stay in Houston.  Where in deepest darkest Ayrshire do you stay?

Let me know how you get on with Mr Dunlop please.

Hey Andrew

Houston Eh! My brothers wife comes from there. her parents still live there. Clive & Kate Cumming. You'll propably know them!!!!

I stay in Kilwinning, so not deepest, darkest ayrshire, more just Ayrshire.

I haven't contacted Dunlop's yet so I'll let you know when I do

Nope, Don't know of them, sorry.  It's a bigger place than some people think.

Will probably have bumped into them in one of Houston's well known and many drinking establishments!

When you start getting into places like Auchinleck and Cumnock, that's deepest darkest Ayrshire Country.

I know a couple of bods from Kilwinning, was at uni with Kathleen McGill (her dad was/still is a maths teacher at Kilwinning Acadamey) and my Mrs was at uni with Lorraine somebody from Kilwinning.

I was at Kilwinning Academy, but am trying to remember a Mr McGill. It has been ten years since I left. Which Uni was the mrs studying at and which course. My fiance is called Lorraine. She was at Paisley studying Psychology.
