hello i know that they didn't make a e38 older shape 7 series 740d in rhd drive but does anyone know if there is a company who would be able to get a 4ltr disiel engine and put it in a 7 for me? so in other words i would like a 740d of my own in rhd need someone to put the enigne in. i assume it would be quite straight forward as the engine is made for the car. any help with this would be great. thanks very much

I don't know of a company that does specific changes such as this, but I have come across cars that have had it done, so it is possible, but how easy, I am unsure. As for the engine that they chose, it was the BMW 2.5 diesel unit.

Your biggest problem would be finding the complete
engine, gearbox, radiator, complete front end wiring
loom, instruments in MPH and exhaust from a 740d.
These were a 3.9 litre iron block V8 with two turbos
and gave 245 bhp. BMW only sold about 1500 of
these before they dropped it after only a year.
A MPH istrument pack was never made for the 740d
(and it's unique to that car) and as no RHD cars
were made, you'll find the exhausts won't fit a RHD
car because of the steering column.

However, BMW made a 730d and this would be
(slightly) more practical but bloody expensive. LHD
isn't that hard to live with, best to just go to Germany
and buy one.

If, you are thinking of fuel economy, then a high spec LPG kit would be a much better bet, apart from losing boot space.
