Can anyone help, have a 89 six which has just started doing something weird, every now and then, the car seems too what i can only describe as a feeling of hitting the break pedal for a second, with the results of my head going forward, then the car drives as normal.  Are my gears slipping? does the car need tuning as it does seem to be drinking fuel (more tha the usal gulping) any ideas?

This is what my old E30 felt like when the 4th gear clutch on the autobox decided to dissintergrate on me.

It was going from 3rd into 4th and staying in 3rd at the same time. Maybe check fluid levels, and check the filter and magnets in the sump of the autobox. Mine were firred up with metal filings (doubeling their size). Hopefully it won't be this, but it just felt like someone putting the anchors on.

It might help if you say which transmission you have, Leroy.

Also, what are the engine revs doing when you are experiencing this problem?

cheers
