My 1993 318is coupe has served me well the past 4 years but now is pushing 185K mls (motorway).
Recently the ECU box became flooded resulting in excess fuel flooding engine. This was temporalily rectified by mechanic removing unit, drying out and replacing. But now central locking pops open immediatly after locking, hazard lights flash for a period after locking doors ( no alarm fitted).
Obiviously this is an electrical problem caused by the ECU.

My question is - Is the ECU a straight swop from a breakers yard, or is it specific to my car.

I am planning to change cars soon anyway when insurance expires, should I grin and bear it in the meantime, and let the new owner worry?
