Hello, i'm possibly going to buy a 93 2ltr coupe.  Can anyone tell me the power output and even speed stats and what i can do to make it go that little bit quiker?  Cheers.

I too have a 93 320 coupe, its 150bhp standard, 0-60 i have seen people quote anything between 8.8 and 9.5, so somewhere around there, 134mph (i am sure someone will correct me and say its actually 133mph) Not a heck of a lot you can do to make it quicker, you can change exhausts, filter, throttle bodies, de-cat, chip, same as most other models. If you want faster, you need to go for a bigger engine really. You can spend 3 grand on your 320 and might just beat a 325! So its better just to start off bigger! But i find the 320 to be adequately quick and i absoloutely love it!

I agree with Coupe King, if you want more power go for a 323/325/328. For the cost of getting a 320 up to the power of a 325/328 it would be easier just to buy one.

Thanks for the response guys, it is very much appreciated. I would like to make the get a bigger engined model but only have a budget about 2k. Do you think i might be able to get a 323/5 for that kind of money? My mate had an M reg 325 and i loved it. He sold it and got an N reg M3 Evo, lucky person.

You would get a j plate e36 325 for that money, dont let high miles put you off, only lack of servicing and poor condition. There are loads of nice ones about so take your time and choose carefully!

Cheers coupe king, your car looks totally minted.  Is it a 320?  How do you find the performance on it?  Have you had any engine mods done to it?  I'll keep a look out in the autotrader, adtrader and scot ads for a 325 but if i dont find what i'm after might go for the 320.  Are all the 320 coupes 24valve straight six?  Thanks

I see by your first message that it is a 320.  I really should pay more attention.

Thanks shinobi!!! It is indeed a 320 and all e36 320's are 24 valve, i think the e30 was a 12 valve. Just take your time when buying your car as you dont want to rush in and buy something that ends up not being right, sit down and think about all the extras you think are neccesary (i personally got one which just had basic electrics as i couldnt be bothered having to worry about cruise control / air con etc etc) Think about how much you really want to pay for it, or how much to leave aside if you want alloys etc (by the way i have a set of M3 alloys for sale lol!) I am happy with the performance but all i wanted it for was the 6 cyl bark and a 24v smooth engine. i wasnt fussed about it being any faster than a 320, but it certainly nips on well enough, plenty of torque, its a heavy car so dont expect it to dart about like a hot hatch, its better for motorway manouvers, overtaking etc

Ah, the old top end torque eh?  Just the ticket.  I wouldnt be intersted in air con (living in Scotland that aint no problem ) or cruise control, just love the cars.  I wanted my mates 325 so bad but when he came to sell it get his M3 evo i had no cash.  Kicking myself still.  Alot of the guys a raving about the 318is, saying they're a bit quicker. Surely this cant be?  Can it?  I might not go down the 325 route just yet.  Sitting motor bike lessons so i dont want to be paying crazy insurance left right and centre, although i do like the sound of the 2.5 engine.  V-nice.

The 318is is lighter and therefore goodfor nipping about, but the 320 just edges it, but the sound of the 320 is worth it alone, there is a good post in the performance section of www.e36coupe.com about this topic. The 318is is a revvy engine which makes it feels fast, but the 320 IS faster, i should know i have raced against one LOL!

How come you havent posted in the scottish section yet sort it oot! LOL!!!

Where about in scotland are you from, i am in Aberdeen.

Welcome to the forum mate,

I'm sure if you got a 318is, you wouldn't be diappointed with it, plenty of happy owners going about on www.e36coupe.com & like coupeking says, the 320 will edge it in terms of refinement & comfort, & overall performance.

I reckon the 320 would deliver better mpg aswell.

Givin me stick eh, what's a guy to do.  This is the first forum i've ever been on so i'll get my back side in gear when i get home from work and try to get onto the Scootish one.  Wouldn't want to let the side down .  Right the two of you have got me convinced, 320 it is.  Is there any other papers i should be checking out?  I'm sifting through the Autotrader, Scot-ads, and Ad-trader, seen a few but would like to broaden the search as they say.  Mr Coupe King, i'm from Alloa, a scabby pit in the central area.  Not many BM coupes kicking about here, most the usual corsa's flying about with big jap style exhausts blaring the raspy scream out the back of them.  If i'm going for the 320 i think i should be able to get a better deal than the 325 as far as value for cash goes too.  Hopefully be able to splash out on a nice set of wheels too.  My mate has taken his 18"s off his M3 so i might see if i can twist his wrist lol, he'll ask a crazy price though.  I take it you aint got much to do at work either?

Cheers Ally, i go through the Autotrader.co.uk site dailly, i'm a sad man.  Just waiting to see if mr Bank manager likes me enough to give me the money.  Seen a few 320's worth a swatch but in the end it all comes down to the honest buck.
