We ended up at Romanos at the Customs House at So. Shields. Not a big menu, but hugely impressed.

Grahame, did you get to meet Pete (with the spot-on silver E36 323 coupe) at The Hawes Inn? Well he was selling BMW tools, so I bought them for Valentines Day for the missus as she was missing some. She was really dead chuffed!!

That's us equal coz she bought me a bonnet and boot lid for the Baur for Valentines Day a couple of years ago.

Excellent people there Mick - good food too.  We use it regularly for work lunches and the like.  It's always an easy choice for good food in a friendly atmosphere at a reasonable price for what you get.

As you say, the menu isn't huge but what there is very well thought out and tasty.

There's another one on Cleadon that we go to quite a bit too for work lunches, but I can't think of its name right now.  Food there is superb too.  Bit more pricey and a stiffer atmosphere, but its still a good choice.  I'll post the name once I've remembered it!

I think its the same owners, on the rear of their menu were the addresses of their other branches - at The Metro Centre and Cleadon.

I fancy a return visit, anyone coming?

You might be right.  I'll get the name confirmed tomorrow (been out of the office all day today).

I'm up for a visit there if anyone fancies it and we can agree on a suitable date/time.

I drive a car with firm suspension on the basis that it doesn't lean to one side and give outsiders any indication of my weight from a distance....all due to my liking of food...

Me too.

I used to worry about my trousers not fitting, now its the seats. Those Recaros in the 535 have definately shrunk.

Wow, you still have proper car seats in?

I've had to replace the drivers seat with a Lazy Boy....
