My E32 would not start if you left it parked for 3 days. various experts said it was the alarm or immobiliser. others said it was unavoidable in e32's due to lots of electrics.

the final answer was a tiny 0.16 (milliamps??) power drain which was traced back to the regulator pack in the alternator.

The car also suffers from typical E32 capacitor faults making the cluster displays go berserk intermittantly. I printed off some cap fix info from the old 7 forum which my mechanic used to identify the caps required. he went to Maplins in Chelmsford and spent 60p on the required parts. a wee bit cheaper than a new cluster board from BMW me thinks.

Good question!

My E23 enthusiasm is high at the moment so I would like to keep the 735i SE (two off).

Potential sellers are E28 E32 & maybe 732i E23. all three are honies, which should find buyers without too much heartache, I hope.

If a car is too posh to use daily, why own it?

I don't believe in Sunday cars, they end up gathering dust in the garage. cars should be used.

both would be very useable and not too immaculate to drive/park.

same here, plenty of Sunday tinkering sessions.

I don't drive on icy roads these days. rear wheel drive classic BMWs have zero grip on ice. had a few hairy journies on icy roads. We ought to keep a set of winter wheels with spiked tyres like other countries do.
