Numberplate lamps

   Hi , i have an 1994 e36 325 i se and the obc is showing a numplate lamp out i have replaced the lamp but it does not illuminate (one does but one doesn't) checked for 12v and there isnt so have linked to the good lamp (so i now have both lamps working ) but unfortuneately the alarm is still there every time i turn on my lights , does anyone have a similar experience or any ideas on how to rectify this , with taking it to bmw
