Contemporary road tests suggested 20 to 25 mpg for a series II automatic 735i E23.

I have been very impressed with my '85 735i since I put it on the road this month. I regularly get 25mpg & better on a run. I wonder if the OBC is being optimistic?

What mpg do other guys get?

My 528i E28 usually gets 22 to 25mpg on a run. appears to use more juice than a 735i. is this down to taller gearing/lower revs & the motronic in the 3.5?

Hi Simon,

Is this the red manual 735i from Brighton with the bashed in door?

28.8mpg is outstanding for a square brick of a car. as good as the later shape E32 735i maybe???

728i has been averaging 24.5 since OBC working, 50/50 mix of urban queuing and light motorway use.

It seems to be threatening me with a rather generous 200 miles remaining though and there's only a third of a tank.

Perhaps they're baker's miles where you get one thrown in for every dozen.

Regards
Simon
