E32 alternator & headlamps

   An E32 post for a change.
My 88 730i needs an alt. I bought one for a few quid off fleabay. Had it tested today and it works fine, yippee. 
The check panel is now reporting Headlamp failure. the R/H headlamp is dimmer than the L/H. there is weak voltage reaching the R/H lamp.
Is this fault symptomatic of the dreaded Light Control Module LKM problems?
