This forum is the best!  I met M3imy on Fri (who drove miles to meet me) and bought his CF box and Alpha N.  Then Toby (215M3) drove down from Scotland to help me fix it in my car.  He spent yesterday aft and most of today doing a great job and asked for nothing in return!  He rang several of the chaps on this forum for advice and all were very helpful.  It's nice to know that people like this still exist.  Many thanks to Toby and the rest of you guys.

Not gone anywhere yet!!  We didn't finish till late bought a computer lead which wouldn't work due to software problem so went and got a different one but wasted a couple of hrs.  Toby took it up the road as I was baby sitting and it sounds brill but I am going to get it set up on a rolling road asap.  Will post the results and findings after as I don't want to give it some stick till then.

Also will let you know how the Supersprint racing exhaust fits and sounds as soon as I get it, should be around 7/10 days.

If you read this when you get home Toby thanks once again you are a star!

Kev

You know it was no problem and actually enjoyed fitting it. Yours was the test model before i fit mine and we could not have done it without the pipe wrench.

I had great hospitality from Kev and his family.

Uwe the car did feel a bit hesitant in it's basic form, but it's just to get it running. It ticks over fine and does pull well low down. With the roof down it was not excessively loud.

Probably £60 and 3 points if a fixed penalty was issued on the spot - but as we all know, when it comes to insurance renewals over the next few years, the three points work out more expensive than the £60 fine.

If they didn't give out a fixed penalty at the time, then you might get lucky and they'll "forget" to follow it up.  That happened to someone I know...

Steve.

Bad luck mate, sweet car and sounded awesome as you drove off!

Steve i could not get my bonnet shut after you left and was going to ring you and thought, nah i could get it to click in eventually. Should have called you and maybe saved your blushes with the law.

I bet your lever was not pushed back and you haven't seen it while banging the hood down.
Some functions do get a bit temperamental with the years..... (but not a problem for an qualified engineer )

3 points and £60 fixed penalty

Had a clean licence for all of 10 days

I couldn't be bother with the agro of contesting it in court, but have since checked out the Home Office website regarding laser gun operation guidlines.

The part that caught my eye was that GSM mobile phones must be switched off when using the laser gun!

What are the chances of the copper having a phone switched on? Pretty good I'd say!

I will certainly be asking in the future.

Godd job he never saw me 3 mins earlier

Uwe it had been playing up and pushed and pulled the lever, pulled on the wire etc and after 5 or 6 attempts got it to catch.

LOL if only they knew the half of it Kev? It was used to strip the connectors off the wires in the ECU, remove the bumper, and the deep gouges will polish out.
