Don't think mine did but that wasn't a sport.Maybe the sports did to go with the 6 speed manual box.

BMW did not produce a 540 Sport but there are a few 6 Speed manual models with the m-tech kit fitted (Bodykit, Spoiler etc)....Only the 525 sport, 535 Sport and M5 had a LSD fitted as standard.

The online parts system also shows a LSD unit for all the other E34 models but they were only fitted as standard to the models I mentioned before.

If your early to mid 90's E34 has ASC + T ( there is an extra abs-like unit under the bonnet l/h front - gold with about 6 pipes coming off it) then it wouldn't have had an lsd from new as BMW regarded it as redundant with traction.
hope this helps

On the option listings for the 1990 E34 535 sport you could have switchable ASC....and the car still kept the LSD

The M30 535i has ASC only, which cuts ignition / retards timing only.
The later M50 & M60 engined cars had the option of ASC & T ,
which can, in addition to above, brake each of the rear wheels to stop
spin. It is only ASC & T cars that didn't come with LSD .. Mind you
that has all changed with the new cars. My E39 has LSD & DSC !!!
Cheers

my 540i has neither asc or an lsd and its a right pain in the ****! wet road junctions, just forget it unless your tootling about.will the m5 one physically fit or do i have to go to bmw for one.
on th plus side its just been dyno'd at 310bhp! not bad for a k+n panel filter and a superchip
