Not much of a problem to me, but accordng to the handbook, if I hold down the button on my remote the windows and sunroof will close.  When I try this the windows stay open and the doors lock and unlock repeatedly.  The window closing effect can be achieved by using the key in the driver door lock (turn and hold until the windows have closed) so I assume the mechanism is in place.  The remote is a one button affair with the manufacturers name 'Serpi Star' on it.  I've been assured it was dealer installed when the car was new and is the system referred to in the BMW security system handbook that I got with the car.  Has anyone else had this problem or got any ideas?

My car has the factory fitted Serpistar system and the total closure feature is turned on and off by pressing the led/switch in the central air vent on top of the dash. If total closure is enabled the windows and sunroof will close as soon as I lock the car with the remote.

Thanks Miles

I wondered what that button was for!  I've tried it with button up and button down and it still doesn't work.  At least now I've got some clues about what has stopped working.  Before I get too deep into it I shall try changing the battery in the remote, I've heard that weak batteries can make remotes behave in strange ways!!

Thanks again

Kevin
