I just spend the last week ringing round for my insurance renewal - What a marathon it turned into.

I finally got a renewal of £455 for 6000miles, 11yrs NCD at 40yrs old using Livingstones Warman Brokers and insured with NIG.

I did get a good quote from Privilege of £454 only because they promise to beat a renewal quote, but I would have had to have a Tracker fitted to complete the cover - Before the offer, the original quote was for £850+, with tracker

When asked why the premiums appear to be high and are ever increasing year on year are - All according to THEIR data:

Increase in claims on this vehicle - Yeah right! Like there are thousands of them in the UK!

High Performance Vehicle!

Post Code (not all had the same risk assessment)

Not Garaged!

No Tracker!

Very desirable car - I would agree with that because the car is cool, different and desirable to me!

And dealing with these telephonists is not easy, if the question is not on their database or 'insurance for dummies card' they forget they can use the brain they were born with - I guess that could be questioned too!

Moan over, thank you for watching!!

You think you had fun, an old friend of mine was insuring a Skyline and was asked to verify the model. When he asked why he was told that when he had given the registration of the car it had come up listed as a GTR and not the GTS-T it actually was. Needless to say my friend argued with them but to no avail.

Reason for this...

According to the DVLA, when you register a Skyline as new owner etc, regardless of what it actually is model wise, it always comes up as a GTR and its listed as a GTR on the V5 too. This is due to a certain number of the cars, which are GTR's being of European specification and no-one has considered it to be a good idea to change the software at DVLA to include the GTS-S and GTS-T models.

Eventually insurance was gained but only after, like you said, a marathon.
