Rear Ball Joints

   I had a recent oil service at a recommended BMW Specialist in Barking, Essex. He told me that the rear Ball Joints were worn and needed replacing. I haven't taken this repair so seriously but think that it might be time I did. When driving in the rain and going through any bumps in the road the rear end of the car will shimmy slightly. This will occassionaly happen even when driving in dry road conditions. 

I just wanted to know if it is most probably the Ball Joints that are causing this shimmy.
