I suddenly understand where "Sohlman" got the idea for his blue seats and white piping......

I wish! this one is just lovely.

mine was a ratty old rust bucket PPF 22L. same colour, blue all over, with blue velour trim.

I had the misfortune to own it from '82 to '84. i sold it for the price I paid, £1500.

my old one recently passed thru Hiab's hands, small world eh?

I owned PPF 22L around 1991 . It had been painted and welded to a reasonable standard but the head was in the boot , i sorted the engine out , refurbed the wheels, new tyres, brakes etc . I broke an e3 with a mint blue leather trim and had a trimmer swap the covers on to the coupe seats, it looked factory. I 'served' it to a victim for about £4500 i think. The 3.0 coupes are amongst my favourite  bmws ever, a styling masterpiece but alas they were disolving when 3 years old . The tragically low values mean it is seldom worth repairing one properly.  I still have a white csa with factory air and factory black leather, i've owned it about 15 years, it's a long sad expensive story !.

I paid for the welding!

they had to melt down the Canberra to get enough metal for the welding rods. that car was a rust bucket. I've never seen so much rust on one car. the entire outer skin of the car was made of filler, the front wings had tons of filler everywhere. more plastic than a robin reliant.

I saw it for sale at a car show around 10 years ago. some dealer had it up for around £5500 I think.

leather looked nice.

There's an anti niose stuff on inner fenders, I can see it on th engine bay picture...

Is it again available fro BMW dealers?

I need it for my 1974 3,3L automatic ( restoration in progress...)...so I'd like to have more info...

Thank you !

the owner told me that the colour is from a later model of BMW. could it be Lapis Blau?

the owner told me the acoustic pads on the inner wings are genuine BMW items.

they might still be available from BMW Mobile Tradition.

Can we see pics of your E3?

Yes it could be LAPISBLAU....I did not think about non-period colours...

I can do something better, as I am a newbie of this GB forum, I post resized pics of my 635 and 3,3L and show them to everyone...

First ,the link of the old albums before I started restoration of 3,3L Automatic( it was converted in 4 speed manual years ago, when the gearbox lost the will to work, Now I'm fitting again a good ZF 3 speed auto, like Your 3,0CSautomatic.This originality-wise reconversion is due to get new licence plate, otherwise I couldn't go on open roads).

http://www.roadfly.org/bmw/gallery/index.php?path=4367,1;-21 ,14;

Then a picture of some time ago, when the car was ready to get the MCTC (like You MOT).

Then the picture of my 635....in Balticblau metallic...118000kms, still the awful trx, I added headlight wipers, cruisecontrol,Apex springs,a decent period radio from Becker,a Mtech 1 steering wheel, the oil cooler(nont any 635 was born with it).Cooming soon: bigger  silver stripes, Sport manual seats(BMW Sport, not Recaros,)...And a thousand kms this summer, I hope....

sisco - your cars are superb! are the wheels on the E3 the original type? Welcome to the forum.

AG - you know you want an E3, and you know you are going to get one. its just a question of pursuading the Boss that 30 y/o cars are a great investment. Once you have had your fun in the E28 you can sell it, and plough the proceeds into an Si.

I would love a 3.0Sa - what a car, and I think the E3 styling is better balanced than the E9 which look like cut down saloons from some angles.
