Hi! I've looked at a pic of a front E34 fusebox on a
525, and notice that it has a totally different layout
inside ie, there are a couple of units in there that my
520 does not have. I'm just wondering if all the
multiplugs for the modules are under there for the
520, for retrofits etc. or are the wiring looms
completely different?

I'm not sure on this one, mine is the M20 2.5, the only difference listed in the bentley manual was when they changed to the 24 valve.

If nobody comes up with the answer try the tech e-mail helpline here, they've helped me in the past.

Hi Nigel, I would post a pic of my fusebox here if I
knew how to! Mine has a row of fuses along the top,
and the rest of the box is just relays and square
blanking plugs. Nothing like the pic at http://
www.bmwe34.net/e34main/maintenance/electrical/

After looking at that pic I wonder where my LKM
module is!
