I've read the Inspection I/II Beauty Contest post and see that Bexley's have a good reputation. But does anyone have any good recommendations specifically for E31 servicing? There are so few 8 series around that even most BMW dealers very rarely get to work on them, so if anyone has a good friendly dealer they use I'd appreciate the info. Ta! |

Steven James in Stevenage serviced my car when my brother owned it. They also changed the engine blocks at 26K. I now use Autotechnik in Old Trafford, Manchester. They seem pretty competent. Solved a persistant oil leak I was experiencing. |

Good to know Phil. My parents are in Blackpool, so that's not so far to go. Maybe next time I'm up that way...

Sniff, being a BMW specialist their labour charges are cheaper. No replacement car though but there's a metro station 5 mins walk away so I can get home very quickly. Got any digi pics of your car? I'd love to see it. Cheers PhilC

You need to set-up a website..... I am to setting up websites what King Herod was to Babysitting...... It was a very painful process for some reason. Then you need to set up the link in your profile. The moderator of this site should be able to tell you the ins and outs. You may it in this site already. I followed the BMW Car and Performance BMW forum explanation in the frequently asked questions and applied to the other forums with varying degrees of success. Look forward to the pics |

Well just had an Inspection II done at my local dealer which cost 890 Euros (about 660 quid) inclduing all consumables. The actual cost for Inspection II is not so bad...about 350 Euros if I remember correctly. But it's things like spark plugs (10 Euros each x 12) that start adding up!!!

Not bad when you compare to other manufacturers. I've just had insp II as well. Labour £203, Parts £52 (filters / plugs), Lubricants £73 oil & diff oil (7.5 litres for 4 litre, is your 5.6 litres the same ???) 2 x new tyres £264 (235/50/ZR16) Not as bad as I was expecting. 16" tyres are prooving difficult to find. I keep some old (still legal) tyres in the garage for any quick changes |

Yep, 7.5 litres of oil for the V12 too. Fortunately mine had new tires al round when I bought it...not looking forward to replacing them! I was pleased...only thing he found was that the brake pads will probably need replacing next time. Not bad for a 10 year old car |
