well this is my 3rd e34 inside 12 mths & I plan to keep it as long as poss.

MOT next week-hopefully will be nice and easy as I think I have taken care of any probs early.

I love everything about it but it would be nice to squeeze a bit more power.

Paul, you may want one of Jaysons chips! I should be having one fitted probably end of February. Will need to work some overtime as car tax due as well

I already have one-its a viper 2 extreme chip & makes a fair difference to the lower ranges & is much smoother.

I have ordered a bbtb ,not sure if it will make much difference but I will give it a whirl,I also have a hks induction kit & supersprint exhaust so all those bits should work well together.

I like your new wheels by the way-suit the car down to the ground.

I was like a kid with a new toy when they came - 8x18 at the front and 9 1/2x18 at the rear. I think that I made the right choice in the end

I shall also be getting a bbtb after the viper II chip, but will have to work some more o/t

No different really, doesn't tramline like I expected it to, but I do need new front shocks so will be buying some bilstein's at the end of the month.

I have always loved the shape of the E34  and had wanted one for many years and since i have had the 525 ise i have never had any problems with her after touching wood (my head) heres hoping i get another 163229 mile out of her.

Where did that splinter come from oooh!!

If you can't be good don't get caught

I did say I'd keep my 525e indefinitely, but I can now categorically confirm that an E28 is one of the best cars to crash at 70mph, and walk away.....

Poor old eta wasn't so fortunate, so that became a spares car while I tracked down a replacement - which I finally picked up last tuesday. 191k on the clock, but still running sweet as a nut, paintwork a bit scruffy but nothing terminal, four new tyres and six months tax made it worth the asking price, so the way I look at it I got the car for free! On that basis, I'm going to run her as a tidy smoker, with lots of spares should anything go bang or fall off. I'll run it until it stops..... or something more interesting tickles my fancy.

i have previously owned a couple of e36's and now i own a 96 (p) 5 series 523i se with 96,000 on the clock to be precise, and i love it it is very responsive and comftable and not bad on petrol either i cant see me getting rid any time soon as i aint seen anything as a suitable replacement or seen anything as in good condition as my car now its reaching its tenth birthday and looks like most three year old cars.

Why an LS400? They're terribly boring. It's like driving an Ikea sofa.

Sadly not mate, just a slightly scabby 1256 saloon. Still a right laugh in the wet though. My garage is all RWD now

it is very boring but very reliable and very quiet and EXTREMELY good value for money.

Unlike the BMW, it does not come with its own lane on every UK motorway and it's fog lights are not hardwired on, I'll grant you. But those things aside its about the best car My money can buy. Period.

My criteria are plain old reliability, comfort, drivability ( long haul with no trauma) and goodies. The LS400 has the lot.

But thanks for asking, it was agood question.

Fair enough, each to their own and all that. Your list of criteria is identical to mine, however I madly plumped for an old beemer instead that is trying it's best to suck all my finances into the petrol tank, yet still manages to charm me on the road. I suspect a Lexus would break down much less as well. But it's just not for me, it's kind of like four wheeled beige, a V8 symphony in monotone dull. Give me a thirsty unreliable BMW any day!

lol-we must all be mental when you put it like that but I Have to agree.

I have a Laguna I am trying to sell which is my wifes old car-its fantastic, drives faultlessly, needs hardly any maintenance , consumptions great & it has about 6 squillion star safety rating- I was actually considering getting rid of the e34 & keeping that but the renault is so dull-you could drive it in your sleep almost so I am keeping my 525 with all of its regular maintenance & silly consumption figures.

Its probably about the only thing that can keep me awake these days.
