Alarm doesn’t sound

   Have got a standard factory fitted alarm on my car, r/c/l with closure etc,.. Everything works fine except the siren doesn't sound, when triggered the lights flash but no siren. 
Can I remove the siren and for inspection or will this affect the ECU in some way. Can't see why it would; but you never know.
Any ideas anyone?
