Topic: Just wondering.... Posted: 07-June-2005 at 13:21 |
I have noticed on other sites that member's birthdays are often given a mention at the bottom of the site, usually under the active member section. I know we can put our birthdays on our profiles and that they are public to a degree, that being you have to look them up and so on, but...
I just been thinking that seeing as not all of us have real families and we see you 'the forum' as our virtual family, well I just thought it might be a nice touch to have a section at the bottom with birthdays publicised for each day. Makes a nice recognition of someone's day imho.
(and before anyone says anything, no this is not cos its my b/day tomorrow, just think its a nice personal touch on a site, makes people feel like a member of a big family when their b/day is recognised, thats all.)

I see where you coming from Ally, but most of us on here are blokes, and in a blokes world it is totally optional to remember a mates birthday !

I beg to differ, I think you will find that the vast majority of 'bloke orientated' sites have birthday lists on them.... Skyline being one such...Mk3 Supra being another...etc etc etc

It is an easy modification to do but seeing as my birthday already passed I'll get to it sometime!

I did say in original post that it had nothing to do with that, I just think its a nice touch for anyone who has a birthday for it to be recognised in some way, cos some of us don't have families and most of our friends are on here.

No, these days you can order a "Fire Brigade Cake Standby Crew" for the bigger cakes, they're not too dear and were another bright idea for raising ddesparately needed cash!
