I went to get into the car this afternoon at about 3pm and the fan was working. Bit strange 'cos I parked the car at about 2am after getting home from work and did not use it until 3pm. It was parked in the shade all day.

I'm not the most mechanically minded and know the fan will kick in after a journey when the engine is still running hot but after 11 hours parked up? What is going on? Have I missed something obvious here? Losing the plot? Alzheimers kicked in a bit early?

Yep definitely the fan. The timer was not set on the OBC.

My friend has got a M3 GT E36  with the same problem,he changed the resistor of the aux fan( on my 635 it's attached to the aux fan assembly....)...and he cured the problem.

I hope this is the culprit...

Have the car booked in for aircon service next week where they are also going to look at fan problem. Will mention resistor of aux fan.
