Hi all

I am looking at buying another M6 that has a couple of minor faults,
probably due to the fact that it hasn't been used for a couple of years.

The first is the speedo needle is bouncing. The sensor on the diff. has
been replaced by the owner but it hasn't cured the problem.

The second fault is a hesitation from the engine when the throttle is
blipped. The owner says it's the 'airbox'. Could the AFM be knackered?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm a million miles far from the knowledge of M engines....

But the speedo needle bouncing could be the defective Service intervall board....I suggest to remove instrument cluster( When you will buy that M-beast),get a new SI board and then re-solder every joint in the rest of the instrument board.....The speedo and every other gauge will work perfectly.

On my M635 this was due to the idle CO being out of adjustment.  It was running very lean and when you went from idle to part throttle it jerked as the fuel maps went to a much richer mixture.

Easy to solve.  Just adjust the bypass screw on the air flow meter to get around 1.4% CO.   That should do the trick.

Otherwise it will be either incorrectly set throttle bleed screws, poor plugs, leads dizy cap etc.

I'd go with the idle CO though

Ian
