E39 Not stopping

   Hi,
I've got an E39 540. I was stopped in Park this morning, the engine was warm, at temperature and ticking over. The revs suddenly rose to approx 5,000 hovering. I switched off the ignition but instead of an instant stop the revs slowly dropped approx 3 seconds. Ran fine rest of today. As I was playing loud music can't rule out electrical fault, maybe rev indication was high but engine was normal.
