Usual routine, 1100am at Asda's Dowlais Top, Merthyr, a nice drive over the mountains, and probably stop of for food somewhere. Please see below for directions from the M5 or M4 as appropriate. |

Hi Mark! No problems, but the gearbox needs overhauling, and the engine bay needs a refurb, (should have had this done before the bodywork really) and after the meet the other day, I have got the bug to just get it all done. I can't wait to get the whole lot finished. I have found a trimmer to re-trim the interior. I saw some of his work in some replica GT40's a friend of mine is involved in, and he is a real stickler for attention to detail. I should wait for the winter to start befor getting it back into the garage. Cheers Paul. |

So its a minimal garage queen. I take it your then going to fit the proper exhaust system that you have and see if it makes a difference. Are you going to leave the block blue or is that going to be part of the refurb.
Cheers Mark. |

No, the block is not staying blue, I must admit, it kinda upset me a bit when I saw that, as I didn't see it when I went o look at the car before I bought it. The engine was rebuild about 25-30K ago, but to get rid of the blue properly it will need acid dipping, which will mean a strip down I am taking the car into work on Saturday, and am changing the exhaust for the new BMW one I have to see if that makes the car go better. If it doesn't, atleast I won't feel so bad about stripping the lump! I' ve pollished it a fair bit, and some surface scratches have started to show, from the polishing. This has cheesed me off a bit too, so I'll have to decide what to do about that. I wish I held out for a red one! It does live in the garage usually, and will definately live in the garage when everything is done. BUT will come out at weekends to keep everything working. |

You have some scratching but i'm well cheesed of with what I done last Sunday but did not notice untill yesterday. I have a creaky shocker and when I pushed down on the passenger front wing to let someone listen to it I have made 3 small indentations in the top of the wing. Everytime I take the car out I try to be so carefull so she cant be bumped etc but then I landed up doing it myself. Dont know how successful Dent Devils etc will be but if not very I would probably renew the wing. May well be a bit excessive but thats me. As far as your polishing scratches contact Jon on the site who has the most perfect bodywork I have seen and i'm sure he can suggest something.
Cheers Mark. |

You are like me....slight dent, renew the wing! I've found dent devils/masters, etc Ok, depends on whos doing it, but to totally get rid of any ripples you'll probably end up painting the wing. Which Jon is that Mark? |

Follow this link http://www.e36coupe.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39128&po stdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 to the E36coupe.com forum and its c76jon. His car is stunning, the underneath is like mint. There isnt a single swirl in his paintwork.
