That's the standard BMW price you'd be quoted by a main dealer.

It's the same with E46 M3.

£650 - Inspection I

£900 - Inspection II

If it's out of warranty you could try German Prestige.  Jon Morgan knows his stuff with BMWs.  Checked over Mick's Evo before he bought it.

Check the link from the BMW Club NE site.

Well I had my Insp 1 done yesterday by PGM and I am still within the Dealer's warranty, out of BMW's Warranty. Was very happy with Jon at PGM. Cost me £164, better than 239+vat+extra's

You're not tied to the dealer under warranty any more. At least in theory, so long as manufacturer's parts are used, any decent garage can do your work.

However, I wouldn't want to be a test case if the engine blew up!

I called BMW warranty dep about that and they said i had to have the car serviced at a BMW certified garage, meaning dealer only. Maybe i'll just give Jon a call and ask him his opinion on it.

If it's a used car warranty or the dealer warranty on a new car, they can insist on you using a dealer. If it's the manufacturer's warranty on a new car, they can't.

But as I suggested, sticking to the deal will be a big help if you ever had a disputed claim.

Cheers, Neil
